Finding a Church Home
Congratulations on your decision to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior!!! (See...that wasn't spooky at all was it?)
Now one of the things you'll want to do is seek out a place to fellowship with others, learn more about the Lord, and worship in the unity of other believers.
Perhaps you have some concerns about going to church. Maybe you've hurt by "church people" or perhaps you think "The people are weird, the music is weird, and why is everyone hugging me?"
But God wants you to assemble with other believers.
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near.
This is going to be a very personal decision that only you can make for yourself. Just make sure you are attending a church fellowship where the Bible is taught correctly. My prayer for you is that you find the perfect church home for you and your family too!
Here are some tips that may help you:
1. Pray! Ask God to show you where He wants you to be. He is faithful and hears your prayers. Remember, He wants a relationship with you and now that you have accepted His invitation, He will never leave you to fend for yourself. Through the power of the Holy Spirit who now dwells within you He will guide you!
2. Ask your Christian friends where they attend. Select friends who have a consistent lifestyle that reflects that they are not only well taught, but they apply what they have been taught.
3. Google. You can Google some local churches. Many churches have their own website and sometimes they even stream their services. You can also find some online church directories like ChurchFinder.com (not an endorsement) to locate churches throughout the world.
4. Be prepared to visit a few places a few times. It's okay to visit churches as long as you are doing this with the intention of finding a church home. I suggest you attend not just Sunday Service, but also Bible Study and maybe a few other events just to make sure their teaching is correct and consistent.
I'm praying for you! Stay encouraged!
