Who Am I? Devotional Series Day 8: Prosperous and Successful

God has created you to be successful. Whether it’s being an entrepreneur, a mother, a wife, an employee, a coach…whatever your endeavor is, God wants you to prosper and He even delights in your success. When He created Adam and Eve, the Bible says He blessed them. This means that God enabled them to prosper and be fruitful. This makes perfect sense when you think about it: humans were created in God’s image and everything that God has ever done has been a success. Therefore, humans were created to be successful.

Deuteronomy 30:9(a)

The Lord your God will then make you successful in everything you do.

This world is filled with messages about failure. Large corporations make millions and millions of dollars on the high potential rate of failure.

  • The weight loss industry- failure to maintain that 20 pound weight loss!

  • The prison system-failure to obey the law!

  • Insurance companies-failure to yield to oncoming traffic!

  • Online dating services-#epicfail!

A mind renewal has to take place in order to accept the truth that God really does want you to succeed in life! You have to stop being failure-focused and start being success-focused. Shift your focus off of the chances of you failing and focus on what the Bible says:

  • Joshua 1:8 “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do”.

  • Genesis 39:2 “The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master”.

  • Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed”.

  • Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”

Notice a few things in these scriptures:

  1. God wants you to prosper and succeed.

  2. God wants you to succeed in everything you do.

  3. Your success is conditional. You must do your part and obey God and commit your life to Him and then you will prosper.

Do not be dismayed if things don’t look like they are going well for you at first. Keep doing what God instructs you to do: study the Bible, pray, live your life for the Lord, trust in Him completely, and keep fulfilling the tasks set before you. Success is inevitable for those who belong to Christ.

Are there areas in your life where you feel like you are failing? How can you apply this lesson to those areas and get the success the Lord desires for you to have? Seek God and ask Him to show you what you need to do to get the success He wants you to have in every area of your life.

God bless you. Stay encouraged.
