Who Am I? Devotional Series Day 9: More than a Conqueror

Nike.

What does a sneaker have to do with being more than a conqueror? Well, the Greek word for conqueror (nikao) comes from the word nike (which means victory). A deeper look into the word nikao shows us that the word means to subdue. In Genesis 1:28, God created man (and woman!) to subdue the earth. This means, from the beginning God created us to be victorious.

Romans 8:37

No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

But even better than just being victorious, Romans 8:37 calls us hupernikao. In other words, we are MORE than conquerors! We are HYPERnikao!!! We go above and beyond victory!! We don't just win by the hair on our chinny-chin-chins; we gain the spoils, we get the trophy, we get the picture on the Wheaties box, we get the endorsement deal, we get the shiny red sports car, we get the fat perpetuity paycheck, we get it all!!! God always causes us to triumph (2 Corinthians 2:14). We really have to take a hold of this truth because the enemy (Satan) will try to deceive us into thinking we will lose. We will lose our marriage, we will lose our children, we will lose our job, we will lose our money, we will lose our health. No! No! No! LIES!!

We Win!! Now you say it out loud: "I am more than a conqueror! I am victorious in every area of my life! God ALWAYS causes me to triumph! I Win!"

In Revelation 3:21, Jesus Himself says that He will grant to those who overcome a seat with Him in His throne even as He has overcome and is seated next to the Heavenly Father. Not only do we overcome (nikao), but will be seated in heavenly places with Christ Jesus for eternity (hupernikao)! #praisebreak

Is there an area in your life where you are worried about losing? Using Romans 8:37, write out a confession and read it everyday declaring that you are victorious in Christ Jesus. Thank God in advance for every victory in your life. No matter how the circumstances look, declare the victory by faith and in the name of Jesus!

God bless you. Stay encouraged.
