God has given us the gift of salvation. We don’t receive it by works, but by faith. Ephesians 2:8-9 makes this point very clear. In Mark 16:16 Jesus said “anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned.” Romans 10:9 states that if we confess with our mouth and believe with our heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, then we shall be saved.
Many people are not ready to receive this free gift. Some people have a hard time believing that they do not have to do anything to receive eternal life, but it's true.
“Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
When we call on the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we are recognizing His lordship over us. It’s not just saying His name, rather it is invoking the power and authority and rulership of who He is over us. When we do this, we are effectively saying: ‘Jesus, You are my Lord and my Savior I completely turn my life over to You’. When we do this, God, by His grace, gives us the gift of eternal life.
We will spend our lifetime working out our salvation with fear and trembling as stated in Philippians 2:12 but we don’t have to work FOR our salvation. There is nothing you can do to be saved from eternal damnation except to receive God’s gift.
Have you accepted Jesus as both your Savior and your Lord? Have you been trying to work for your salvation? If you have confessed Jesus as your Lord and Savior and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, there is nothing else you need to do to be saved. Go ahead- thank and praise God for the gift of salvation.
Now fearlessly live your life for Him everyday!
