Last night I went Corporate Prayer at my church and, as usual, it was a very powerful time in God's presence. There is nothing like standing in agreement with other saints, having the same spirit of faith, as we petition our Heavenly Father according to His will!! WHOA!!! It's a high for me!!! There was an ever present anointing and I believe that we did some serious damage to Satan's agenda in the spirit realm...I am looking forward to the physical manifestation!
While there were some things we prayed for corporately: covering our Pastors, praying for the nation and the President, and praying for the unsaved just to name a few prayer points, I also prayed my personal prayers for my family members and some things I am believing God for. I believe we prayed the will of God and I believe that His answer will be yes and amen.
Then entered the temptation to doubt. (*long eyeroll*)
The enemy does NOT want the will of God in our lives and he will do anything he can to try to thwart that, including using doubt and fear to try to get us to step out of faith. Faith is a critical part of prayer; actually it is critical to the life of a believer. It's how we live! If we pray outside of faith, we lose. Never ever give in to the temptation to doubt. We must pray in faith and not doubt that God will give us the petitions of our heart.
"I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours."
Mark 11:24 (NLT)
So what do you do when doubt tries to enter? Start thanking God for hearing your prayers and for His answers! Start praising Him and worshiping Him! God loves You and He showed His love by sending His Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins and put us into right standing with Him. Because of Jesus Christ, we can really dwell in His presence and rejoice because we know that He is the God who hears and answers prayers.
Psalm 100 instructs us to praise Him and to thank Him. While I am partial to the King James version of the Bible and I often use the New Living Translation on this website, our intercessory prayer leader used the Message version and it opened my eyes to this familiar Psalm for me last night in a fresh way:
Psalm 100 (MSG)
1-2 On your feet now—applaud God!
Bring a gift of laughter,
sing yourselves into his presence.
3 Know this: God is God, and God, God.
He made us; we didn’t make him.
We’re his people, his well-tended sheep.
4 Enter with the password: “Thank you!”
Make yourselves at home, talking praise.
Thank him. Worship him.
5 For God is sheer beauty,
all-generous in love,
loyal always and ever.
The Message version says that "Thank You" is the password!! When the enemy tries to tell you
'God did not hear your prayers',
'that was a stupid prayer',
'so and so prayed for that and it didn't happen',
'you can't ask God for that',
'is that really the will of God',
'no one can know the will of God'...
or any other lie of doubt he tries to use, you just use the password and start Thanking God for everything that has already been done, knowing that from the first day you began to pray, that the Lord heard your prayers and set heaven in motion to bring that prayer to pass.
God bless you. Stay encouraged! Keep praying and keep believing!
