I tried not to do it...to be another blogger blogging about COVID-19 season. But the Lord placed this post on my heart so let me go ahead and obey.
We've been hearing a lot about social distancing and sheltering in place in an effort to combat this awful virus. I have been doing my very best to obey- only leaving the house for essentials like work, food, medication, and a few essentials (that I won't name but follow the current hashtags and memes and you'll know what I'm talking about lol).
But here is what the Lord placed on my heart: Shelter in Peace.
We know that there is so much panic and worry around us. People are worried about their health, their families, their livelihood, jobs, the economy; you name it someone is worried about it. But it's in times like these that we can trust that our God- our Lord- our Savior- is not caught off guard and HE is so not worried! He is the One who knows the exact outcome of this event. This truth should give us great peace at a time like this. I love that I know the One who knows the outcome! But how can we have peace when the reports, the data, and the facts are bleak? Look to Philippians 4:7 "Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus."
His peace protects our hearts and our minds. When your mind wants to go in every direction of worry and anxiety, we have to stop the worrying and talk to God. Pray to Him, and thank Him for what He has done (Philippians 4:6). This is an exercise of your will. You have to make yourself STOP worrying, and START focusing on God as your provider, your protector, your healer, your everything, and reflect of all of the great things He has done for you up to this point.
Psalm 46 is a song with lyrics that start with "God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge! A river brings joy to the city of our God, the sacred home of the Most High. God dwells in that city; it cannot be destroyed. From the very break of day, God will protect it".
I love this!!! Look at these words: refuge, city of our God, sacred home, God dwells, God will protect it. As a Christian, I know that the Spirit of the Living God dwells in me and I know that I am hidden in Christ Jesus. I know that there is no need to fear because the Prince of Peace, is always near. I know that no matter what comes, God will protect me. These words, God's Words, His promises, comfort me during these troubling times. I am intentionally choosing not to worry. I am choosing to make wise choices and take heed to His instruction, not in fear, but rather in faith, knowing that He is my refuge and my safe shelter. I am living in Christ and dwelling in His peace. I am sheltering in His peace.
I'm praying for you.
